SOURCES & HOW IT WORKS

A shelf you can explore.
Sources you can check.

200,000 distinct catalog works, each with its original source link.

The book records

We select bibliographic facts from Open Library’s September 2026 official bulk metadata. Records have an explicit children’s or juvenile subject, at least two additional topical labels and an author reference. Work IDs and normalized title/author combinations are deduplicated. These are catalog profiles, not 200,000 independently written reviews.

Cover images

Where the work record has a positive cover ID, images load directly from covers.openlibrary.org, as its public cover documentation requests. Covers may represent another edition of the same work. We do not scrape Amazon images or bulk-download Open Library covers. Unavailable images use our original topic illustrations, labelled as illustrations. A cover is not proof that a matching Amazon edition is in stock.

Topics and reading ideas

Theme groups match the recorded subjects. Conversation prompts are original general ideas for that topic, not plot summaries. Catalog labels do not establish a child’s age, reading level, language or suitability. Inspect the actual edition and sample; some titles include challenging or dated material.

Amazon links

Each book card and book profile links to an Amazon US search using the title, available credited author and our affiliate tag. These are search links, not verified direct ASIN product offers. Price, stock and edition have not been verified. We have not invented ratings, discounts or reviews. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

Your browser

Search downloads only matching word indexes and the current result cards; it does not download all 200,000 records at once. Saved books use a separate browser storage key, with no child names or measurements. Cover image requests go to Open Library’s image service, which receives the usual web request information. Amazon opens only when you choose a shopping link.

Sources and corrections

The expansion import date is October 24, 2026; the original 50,000 work IDs and URLs are preserved. Records can be incomplete and can change. For a correction, send the book profile URL and a source through our contact page.
